In order to Commemorate 50 years of victory in 1971 War, the period between 03 Dec 2020 to 16 Dec 2021 is being celebrated as “Swarnim Vijay Varsh” across the country. Four Victory Mashaals (Flames) were lit from the Eternal Flame at National War Memorial by Hon’able PM Mr Narender Modi and are being carried to various parts of the country.

           Victory Mashaal for Southern Cardinal was received with reverence at Ahmednagar city on 29 Jan 2021. The Flame was escorted by Motorcycle Outriders, Cyclists and Runners through Armoured Corps Centre and School and was handed over to Brig R S Rawat, VSM, (Retd), a 1971 war veteran at the iconic War Memorial at Mechanised Infantry Regimental Centre. Brig Vijai Singh Rana, VSM, Commandant Mechanised Infantry Regimental Centre alongwith 1971 War Veterans, laid wreath at War Memorial to pay homage to the gallant warriors who made supreme sacrifice during 1971 war.
           Highlight of the celebrations at Ahmednagar was wreath laying by officer from Bangladesh National Army (BNA), who are presently under going course at MIRC. The Flame will be kept at war memorial till 04 Feb 2021. To mark the occasion, various events have been planned from 29 Jan 21 to 04 Feb 21 which includes Equipment display, felicitation and outreach to War Veterans.
